Recently, concerns have arisen about the Sig Sauer® P320 series of pistols and the possibility that these pistols may fire uncommanded. Various sources have reported experiencing Sig P320/ M17/ M18 pistols discharging a chambered round of ammunition without the trigger being pulled.

We at Pioneer Valley Arms take firearm safety very seriously. We have long prided ourselves on ensuring to the best of our ability that our customers may confidently purchase firearms from us that are safe, reliable, and fully compliant with all state and Federal regulations. We also maintain close relationships with manufacturers when we choose to offer their products, stay up to date with any issues that may affect their products (to include recalls, safety bulletins, etc.), and strive to openly share this information with our customers.

To that end, we have reviewed many of the documents that have arisen regarding the P320 pistol. We have also reviewed the official statements made by Sig regarding these reported issues. More information regarding Sig's official position may be found at https://www.sigsauer.com/p320-truth.

When reviewing claims of firearms being discharged uncommanded, it must be acknowledged that instances of negligent discharges may be improperly reported as the fault of the firearm; unfortunately, many situations involve error on the part of the individual due to improper firearm modifications, use of modified or non-compatible holsters, or even as simple as an accidental activation of the trigger by the individuals clothing or an unwitting finger press.

After reviewing all the information currently available, we at Pioneer Valley Arms do not feel that there is yet definitive proof that the P320 platform is inherently unsafe. We will continue to monitor developments as they occur; if we believe that there is a clear indication that the P320 series of handguns is inherently unsafe, we will act accordingly to ensure our customers will continue to be offered only the safest, best quality firearms available. It should be noted that as of this time, we have had zero reports of any of our customers experiencing an uncommanded discharge of their P320 series pistol.
